MTH 153 : Objectives
   
 
At the completion of this course, each student should be able to:

  1. Use a calculator to evaluate exponential expressions.
  2. Sketch the graph of exponential functions.
  3. Solve selected application problems.
  4. Evaluate logarithmic expressions without the use of a calculator.
  5. 6. Use a calculator to evaluate a logarithm.

  6. Use the definition of a logarithmic to write a given equation in logarithm form.
  7. Sketch the graph of logarithmic functions.
  8. Evaluate logarithms using the change of base formula.
  9. Use the properties of logarithms to write expressions as a sum, difference, and/or multiple of logarithms.
  10. Write logarithmic expressions as the logarithm of a single quantity.
  11. Approximate the value of logarithms using the properties of logarithms.
  12. Use the properties of logarithms to simplify logarithmic expressions.
  13. Solve exponential and logarithmic equations.

  14. Solve selected application problems.
  15. Determine the quadrant in which the terminal side of an angle lies that is given in degrees or radian measure.
  16. Use the Laws of Sines and Cosines to solve selected application problems
